Clothespin 031


I kept looking at the drawing and thinking it was too simple, although I usually like that.
.
Suddenly the thought arose to shade in the shape at the bottom of the drawing.
.
Once that was done, the upper part of the sketch needed something.
.
I tried to vary the texture of the marks used to shade in the two areas.
.
Where does this stuff come from?

I really like the crosshatching shading work. That particular style I think lends a great deal of character. Michelangelo's favorite technique if I remember correctly.
